OK. That was fun. Since we last spoke my days have been pretty uneventful, and accomplished at the same time. I have run a lot of errands, and gotten a lot of those little nit-picky details that we forget to do, or put off doing because they aren't pressing matters. But I have also done a lot of healthy eating, and working out! I mentioned that I went to the farmer's market on Sunday and stocked up on produce, so I have been eating a LOT of salads.
Usually consisting of:
I usually add a little bit of bleu cheese, because I love stinky cheeses, and when I use it a little goes a long way. It just adds a nice salty, pungent, flavorful bite, and it makes you feel like you're indulging. I also BBQ'd some chicken breasts on Monday with the really good raspberry-jalapeno sauce I bought from the owner/manufacturer at the grocery store. It is sooo good. There has also been a lot of fruit and breakfast burritos (1 whole egg+egg white, beans, spinach, salsa, tomatoes, flour tortilla).
And it has been hotter than hell this week so i've had lots of iced coffee, with vanilla syrup+soy milk (I just bought chocolate soy milk yesterday, and am currently trying that in the iced coffee, not sure how i feel about it) and ice tea. Yesterday I had a fruit smoothie for dinner: banana, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, soy dream-ice cream, organic strawberry/banana juice, and ice (#yum).
I started training for my 5K last night, I thought the running would be horrendous but I made it through, and when I was done I did 10 minutes on the elliptical, and 100 crunches. So It wasn't awful, which makes me feel like I can keep to it. I found a really great program that I think will get me where I need to be. And after day 1, I'm not worried about getting discouraged and quitting. If you are not a runner, and you're like me and said you would run unless someone was chasing you, go to CoolRunning.com and check out their Couch-to-5K Running Plan and try it with me. You'll be surprised!!
